PLP 013 – Sean Coyne – Ryan Daniel Moran’s Right Hand Man – Started and Sold a Private Label Business – The Power of Partnerships and How to Do Them Right

Many of you know Ryan Daniel Moran, the man single-handedly responsible for my entry and growth in the private label space. You may not be familiar with his friend and business partner, Sean Coyne. Sean is Ryan’s implementation guru, and what a guru he is. Together, Sean & Ryan started a yoga products company, grew it rapidly, and then sold it to an equity firm. In this episode, find out how they did it.

Overview:

Sean discusses deciding to start a private label business with his friend Ryan Daniel Moran, of Freedom Fastlane. Sean talks about the early days of Zen Active Sports, the company he and Ryan built together. He shares details of their launch strategy, which included building a community on Facebook to launch their first product to. He and I discuss how launching products has changed in some ways over the past year. Sean talks about product differentiation and overcoming logistics obstacles.

Sean shares the power of partnerships, including some important advice in choosing a partner.

Sean discusses a new service he has launched, Coaching Jungle. Sean has a library of step by step videos covering a plethora of topics related to selling on Amazon. I highly recommend you check out Coaching Jungle, and Sean has generously agreed to give Empire Builders $100 off the cost of Coaching Jungle for your first year of membership. Pretty cool! Just use the coupon code: PRIVATELABEL.

The episode ends with Sean giving some advice for private label brand owners: “Just Do Something”. So powerful!
